Vacord Screen Printing now offers discharge ink screen printing as a new specialty.

    Discharge design qualities
  • Allows fine detail - We have been told not to use very high mesh counts, IE screens that have finer mesh and allow fine detail. However that never deterred us from trying and we have had good results with high mesh counts. Halftones and tiny text should be avoided still.
  • Underbasing - With a lot of normal printing, screen printers lay down a layer of white ink then put colors on top of them to achieve light colors on dark fabric. This can be done with discharge as the underbase, then a normal ink on top, resulting in a good print with a soft hand.
  • We cannot guarantee all shirts to discharge super well, so the print may result as a little tan or yellow in color. There will still be a strong contrast between the discharge print and the shirt's color.
  • Due to the finnicky nature of discharge and the fact that the printed design cannot be seen until the garment is heated with the conveyor belt oven and the discharge activates, some duds can occur where the total design may not be lain down or printed perfectly. Adjust your order amount to account for a spoilage rate of five percent.
